Bishops from five Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Synods and five Episcopal Church Dioceses are gathered in Washington this week.
Urging law makers to retain international development assistance focused on alleviating poverty, the bishops met with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and other members of Congress. They were also briefed on peace and humanitarian issues in Sudan and South Sudan.
Seen here are Bishop Prince Singh of the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester, Bishop Marc Andrus of the Episcopal Diocese of California, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Bishop Wolfgang Herz-Lane of the ELCA Delaware-Maryland Synod, Bishop Michael Girlinghouse of the ELCA Arkansas-Oklahoma Synod, and Retired Bishop David Colin Jones (Virginia) and current president of the American Friends of the Episcopal Church in Sudan.
